Always coy about spiritual leanings, Hamstall was once accused of an Anglo-Catholicism which would impress the Holy Father himself, whilst Dr Mille, a retired Quaker, is now a self-proclaimed Humanist with a zeal which makes Richard Dawkins look like Billy Graham.
