about
'Yesterday (Far Away)'was written for the legendary French artist Axel Bauer who allegedly fancied recording something not dissimilar to 'Angels' by Robbie Williams. Axel declined to record it, but it was soon discovered by the French 'Star Academy' winner Nolwenn Leroy who wrote her own lyrics and called it 'London Fantasy'. It appears on her 2005 multi-platinum-selling album 'Histoires Naturelles' on the Mercury label.
Here for the first time in hi-fi sound is the original version with vocals from Ray Cathode who is not as pretty as Nolwenn. The guitar solo is by Dr Mille who owes something to the Gallagher brothers for the britpop style if not the notes. On second thoughts, stuff 'em. They owe most of what they did to Lennon/McCartney. Amusingly, one reviewer for RFI Musique in France wrote of the track "The final mix of 'Histoires Naturelles' took place in London, in the legendary Abbey Road studios, home to the Beatles, and Nolwenn paid her own tribute to the Fab Four recording a cover of "London Fantasy".
